Hypoxia Training for Pilots
The biggest danger to pilots operating modern high performance jet aeroplanes at high altitudes is hypoxia. The failure or mishandling of aeroplane pressurisation systems leads to errors, and this has caused number of fatal accidents in recent years.
The commercial pilot’s awareness and understanding of the physical symptoms of hypoxia and the response needs should be an integral part of airline pilot training.
Pilot Training College (PTC) now offers hypoxia training for pilots at all levels of experience through a collaborative programme with the Southern AeroMedical Institute in Florida. This one day course includes a flight simulation in a specially designed high altitude chamber with flight training devices and is specific for pilots of pressurized and unpressurized aircraft. Your flight simulation is captured on video for enhancing a post-flight review.
