Entry Requirements for the Flybe Mentored Cadetship Programme

 

(1) Right to Work in the European Economic Area

 

Right to Work in the European Economic Area - Candidates must have the right to work in the European Economic Area without restriction. You will be asked to prove evidence of eligibility to work and reside in the European Economic Area otherwise you will not be allowed to do an assessment or apply for the Programme. Evidence in the form of original versions of passport, work permit and/or visa documents must be presented on the day of assessment prior to conducting the test otherwise the assessment cannot be progressed. All foreign applicants who are offered a place will be required to satisfy all the normal legal requirements (as laid down by the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform and the Department of Foreign Affairs) to gain access to education in this country, before acceptance and registration requirements can be finalised.

 

(2) Education Qualifications

 

Education and Qualifications. Candidates must have attained a good level of education at secondary school leaving or matriculation level in order to meet entry requirements for the course. Where candidates have particular high scores in the pilot skills assessment test, The Pilot Training College of Ireland may choose to waive this requirement. It should be noted that most foreign applicants will need to have passed recognized exams in English and Mathematics in order to meet the minimum qualification for the Flybe Programme.

 

(3) Competence in English

 

English Language Competence: Instruction in the Pilot Training College of Ireland is normally through English and applicants who do not have Irish Leaving Certificate English must provide evidence of equivalent competence through school leaving or matriculation examinations. Achievement of a minimum standard in recognized tests of English will also be considered. Competence in spoken English is necessary to complete registration and The Pilot College of Ireland reserves the right to test oral language ability before registration can be completed. ICAO Level 4 English testing is a standard requirement for the issue of a JAR licence for students who do not have English as a first language. This test will be completed before a commercial pilot’s licence is issued.

 

(4) JAA Class 1 Medical

 

All suitable applicants must successfully complete a Class 1 Medical at the IAA Aeromedical Centre, Mater Hospital, Dublin to secure a place on the programme.

 

(5) Successfully complete a pilot skills and assessment course at PTC

 

The course is broken down into the following sections:

  • Introduction to PTC.
  • PILAPT Assessment briefing and test.
  • Flight assessment briefing and test.
  • Training needs analysis and feedback.
  • The next steps to enrollment.

 

(6) Successfully complete the interview and selection process

Selected candidates will undergo selection interview with The Pilot Training College of Ireland followed by an interview with Flybe.
